TASP:

Triple Axis Spectrometer for Polarized Neutrons

Instrument responsibles: Dr. B. Roessli , Dr. A.Podlesnyak

History

The triple-axis-spectrometer TASP with polarised cold neutrons has been commissioned at the end of September 1997 at the SINQ spallation source. This instrument is devoted to measure collective magnetic excitations with high momentum and energy resolution .

Some Specificities

TASP occupies the end position of the neutron guide 1RNR14
that has a critical wavelength l* = 1.7 Å -1.
The special features of the instrument are:

  • Collimation of the Beam before the Monochromator
  • W-configuration Possible for all Accessible Scattering Vectors
  • Polarization Capability using HOPG combined with polarising Benders
  • Vertically Focusing Monochromator
  • Horizontally Focusing Analyser
  • 4-circle option (10 K < T < 300 K )
