The three axis spectrometer TASP with cold neutrons has been commissioned at the end of September 1997 at the SINQ spallation source. Due to its position at the end of the neutron guide TASP allows to use a wide range of incident wavevectors of neutrons and high values of momentum transfers. Optionally, TASP can be operated with polarised neutrons setup. In that case it is possible to perform the experiments with the longitudinal and XYZ polarization analysis, as well as polarimetry using MuPAD.

A broad range of problems in condensed matter can be explored at TASP. For example, TASP is well suited to study magnetic and structural phase transitions. Corresponding fluctuations, superlattice reflections and critical indices can be investigated. Low-energy collective excitations with high energy and momentum resolution can be studied. Various effects of disorder may be investigated through the diffuse scattering. Due to the high sensitivity of the polarized neutrons techniques, determination of complicated magnetic structures can be performed. Standard sample environment available at SINQ is compatible with TASP enabling to vary the temperature, magnetic field and pressure.

Many examples of results obtained at TASP can be found in TASP's list of publications. If a specific question appears, one should not hesitate to contact the instrument responsibles.
