SINQ - call for proposals II/10, proposal submission deadline: May 15, 2010, midnight

The next call will be launched in April 2010 with a proposal submission deadline on May 15, 2010, midnight for all instruments, see list below. Those proposals will request for beamtime during the period October - December 2010 (short term proposals only).

SINQ is open to both the national and the international user community. Beam time allocation will be based on the recommendations of the external SINQ Scientific Committee. Beam time applications for SINQ are solicited and should be submitted through the Digital User Office DUO. A DUO online help can be found here. If you need any further information please don't hesitate to contact the PSI user office.

The Digital User Office will be open for proposal submission approximately 4-5 weeks before the deadline. Of course editing and saving of proposals is possible any time.

General Guidelines for the submission of proposals can be found here.

Scheduling periods:

October - December 2010 (II/10)

The services of SINQ are normally free of charge for user groups of universities and research laboratories. A prerequisite for the charge-free admission to external users is the readiness to publish the scientific results in internationally accepted journals, giving proper credit to SINQ staff members involved in the experiments as well as proper mention of the SINQ facilities. In addition, a written report has to be submitted within 6 months of your the experiment. When you submit a continuation of a proposal please indicate the proposal number of the previous proposal and check if the report on the previous experiment has been submitted.

The following instruments will be operational and available in the period II/09:

Powder Diffractometers : HRPT, DMC
Single Crystal Diffractometer : TriCS
Strain Scanner : POLDI
Small Angle Scattering : SANS-I, SANS-II
Reflectometer : AMOR
Triple Axis Spectrometers : TASP, RITA-II
Time-of-Flight Spectrometer : FOCUS
Backscattering Spectrometer : MARS
Radiography : NEUTRA, ICON
Irradiation facilities : PNA, NJA, GAA

Additionally, beamtime on the instrument MORPHEUS can be allocated by contacting the instrument responsible directly.

PSI launches also a call for joint X-ray and neutron proposals (SLS/MS-Powder beamline and SINQ/HRPT) in the field of powder diffraction. Detailed information can be obtained here.

Further information (travel, accommodation, etc.) can be obtained here or directly from the instrument responsibles.
